It is a smooth rounded swelling close to a joint. It appears suddenly or gradually, and usually at the wrist. It communicates with the articulation and is filled with synovial fluid. Its size usually fluctuates depending on the movement of the joints. It is painless, and the existence of pain should be sought in another cause. The puncture of the ganglion, gives thick synovial fluid and confirms the diagnosis. It is often combined with diseases of the median nerve at the wrist and overwork (ongoing moves)
